In its efforts to make the state known for its adventure tourism too, Madhya Pradesh Tourism overhauled the unexplored and untouched Hanuwantiya Island which is situated in backwater of River Narmada and turned it into a small city in itself. It is located at a distance of 137 KM from the mainland of Indore.

Set in a pristine surrounding and against the spectacular back drop of Indira Sagar’s dam is a perfect getaway. A village interestingly with its walls artistically painted in the vicinity adds charm to this place The largest man-made reservoir in India and the second largest in Asia.

This island surprises you with its cruising, Floating Fantasy, trekking, bird watching, and botanical trail adventures. A simple stroll through the surrounding region will introduce you with the wildlife that thrives in here. Peacocks, black storks, a small cormorant, and European Ostray are pure delights for all the avid bird observers. The freshwater island of Hanumantiya Tapu is loaded with heaps of undulating terrains.

Boriyamal Tapu, is also located from an half hour distance from Hanumantiya island, rich in flora and fauna and a location that gives complete jungle experience and perfect place for river side camping, trekking, outdoor cooking and many more.
