Bajirao II preferred this Wada to Shaniwar Wada and stayed here for over 11 years before being arrested by the British.

Its east facing beautifully carved wooden canopy is the most notable feature of this wada from where Bajirao’s musicians used to perform. The wada houses a museum on Maratha artefacts as well as beautiful miniature models of the famous buildings of Pune. On the first floor of the building, is a large recently renovated Darbar hall with detailed carved ceilings, grand chandeliers along with intricate teakwood pillars.
