Manasbal Lake is located about 30 km north of Srinagar. Apart from its clear waters, the lake is also famous for the lotus found in abundance on its margins.

Close to the northern shore of the lake are the ruins of a fort which was built in 17th century by a Mughal king to cater to the needs of caravans that used to travel from Punjab to Srinagar.

In order to attract tourists, the Tourism Department has upgraded Manasbal as a heritage village and a water sports destination.

In recent years, the lake has come up as a tourist destination in a big way. The government has also developed the place as water and bird watching tourism here.

In this regard, a water sports centre and bird watching infrastructure are being developed in a picturesque place.

The tourism department has also organized water sports events at Manasbal Lake.
