It is one of the century old dams built by visionary Chatrapati Shahu Maharaj. The dam is primarily used for hydro-electric power generation with an installed capacity of 10 MW. Apart from electricity generation the dam water is also used for irrigation purposes. The dam is located at a scenic spot, with a stunningly spectacular backdrop of thick forest cover that offers habitat to many birds and varied flora. Visitors flock here in large numbers every year to see the spectacular bird species that grace the area around the dam.
